This is New to Most of Us!
In spite of everyone being asked to stay home, we were out all day yesterday by necessity.
My wife had dialysis early on, so I took her to the hospital over in Vermont for that, came home and worked awhile, then went over to get her. She had cancelled Physical Therapy because she had an appointment at the heart doc at 12:30 to be cleared for surgery, but when we got there we found it was at 2:30, not 12:30! We had to be at another medical appointment in Albany before that, so had to reschedule that one for today. We got lunch at Burger King, eating it in the car, then fueled up and headed for Albany. There wasn't too much traffic!
Some people have been floating the idea of banning travel between States, but we get most of our medical care across the line in Vermont, my wife also has dialysis there 3 times a week! I expect a lot of the hospital staff drive over from New York as well as other workers - Vermont is too expensive to live in for what they pay there. And on the other hand, a lot of Vermonters work in the Albany area.
She got x-rayed at the bone doc in Albany. Leg is healing well so far. They were taking no precautions whatever there - no masks, hand sanitizer, or anything! We wore masks and washed hands afterwards with Lysol wipes we had in the car.
In the evening I attended our Church Board Meeting where we decided to end services and close the building through April 6, except for a blood drive being held soon. We all sat about 10 feet apart. Hard for me to hear, and a rather strange meeting!
The wife is scheduled for another surgery soon, but I have an idea that is going to be postponed and have to wait.
I doubt 15 days of lock-down is going to make much difference. The British seem to expect this will be lasting into Spring 2021. Let's hope they are wrong. It is obvious you can't lock everything down that long - the whole economy would crash and people would begin preying on others to survive. 15 days is going to bankrupt a lot of businesses and put a lot of people out of work. The Government has no resources in reserve, they have been running up debt at record rates in boom times! The only thing they can do is create more cash out of nothing, which will end in runaway inflation.
Our own pride and arrogance led to a lot of this. We should have shut down international air travel immediately when this broke out. But money was more important.
But as a friend used to say, God is still on the throne. We will survive, if in a somewhat reduced state.
