Election Fatigue

 Well, the election is FINALLY over! Or is it? Like the Energizer Bunny, it just seems to keep going and going. 

Let it go, Republicans! You lost the Presidency, or rather Donald Trump did. Recounts and lawsuits may gain back some votes here and there, but aren't going to make any difference in the final result. 

Republicans did make gains in numbers voting, may have added to their number in the House, and probably, but not certainly, hung on to control of the Senate. That really isn't a bad showing. 

What you need to do now is to let the past go, stop wasting time and resources on it, and throw all your time and treasure into the two runoff elections in Georgia first thing. Get moving and get moving now! Your chance of winning the White House back anytime soon depends on your holding onto the Senate.

Longer term, get yourselves together. Donald Trump won your nomination initially because he self-financed and you didn't have to put up any money. Supposedly you represent the rich. Get them prepared to pay the bills for a reasonable candidate in 2024. You also need to have positive programs to present. Being against health care for all, welfare, Social Security, Medicare, etc, etc.. will kill you, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE NO REASONABLE ALTERNATIVES TO OFFER! You need to have well thought out, reasonable programs to present.

Avoid grabbing hold of the "third rails", especially just before an election. Doing that, and alienating elderly voters by attacking Medicare and Social Security, and by implying that it didn't matter how many elderly died of Covid if you kept the economy rolling, was (in my opinion) what killed your chances of holding onto the Presidency.

Democrats, you need to do what Joe asks. Devote yourselves to unifying and healing the nation. Deal with Covid. Don't start any more wars - you are known as the "war party" for a reason. People are sick and tired of endless wars that accomplish nothing but killing our soldiers and unleashing hordes of refugees on the world - and suck up resources better used for health care and scientific research. Do something about the plight of people in rural areas and small towns instead of blowing them off as "deplorables" in "flyover country". Address income disparity in a way that doesn't slow investment and kill the economy. Lower taxes for money invested, raise them for wealth hoarded. Plug all the loopholes that allow corporations to pay next to nothing in taxes.

You REALLY do need to avoid the temptation to "get even" and "take revenge". Nancy Pelosi needs to go. She is very publicly saying the exact opposite of what your President-elect is saying, and what she is saying, if carried out, will be poison for your party in the next election.

There are really major issues facing the country in the next four years. Covid, ecomomic problems, climate, over-regulation of small businesses and under-regulation of large corporations, too much Federal Government power, etc.

Concentrate on unifying people to face them, don't divide them by trying to ram more looney-tune cultural changes down people's throats. Stand up for free speech. Liberals used to believe "I disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it". Today's "You can't say that because it offends me" is NOT freedom of speech! "Wokeness" and "cancel culture" are much more harmful to you than beneficial. They are poison to democracy, individual freedom, and the country as a whole.
