The Schaghticoke Fair

Kathy and I planned to go to the Schaghticoke Fair yesterday on "dollar day" but it was way too hot, so we went today instead after the heat wave broke. It was senior citizens' day so we still only had to pay $5.00 each.

We were a bit late due to a rain shower, but got there about 10:30, walked around (Kathy drove her borrowed scooter), and sat and watched the oxen competing.

I got a bit distracted by the old engines!

I watched a smith forge a wall hanger (for keys, coats, etc) shaped as a leaf while Kathy waited for me!.

We watched a tractor pull (lawn tractors) for about a half hour.

We then ate lunch, sat and listened to the "Donny Elvis" concert for about a half hour, and walked through the cattle barns. I took a photo of the camels to pick on our oldest daughter with (long story, but she has disliked camels since one spit on her as a child at Catskill Game Farm!).

We ran into our former pastor and his wife, with one of their daughters, and talked awhile. Later we ran into the pastor of a nearby church and his wife and talked awhile. Small world!

Close to the time we had to leave to pick up a grandson at daycare, we watched a presentation on Raptors which was very interesting.

All in all, it was a fun day and the weather was very pleasant.
