Sunday Heat

     Sunday by the time we got out of church it was scorching hot. The year before it had been around 38 deg. on this day! After sweltering at home for awhile we decided to go on a picnic where it might be a bit cooler.

     We drove up to Carter's Pond Wildlife Management Area near Greenwich.

      Kathy walked to the lookoff near the parking lot and then sat in the shade in a chair while 
    

     Lucy and I walked the trail down to the dam. We saw a heron, though it was too far away to get a good photo.

    
     Afterwards, we drove around Cossayuna Lake, then returned to Carter Pond and had our picnic. Lucy was panting hard but had refused to drink from the pond or from a brook I stopped at for her. But she was quite willing to drink our water from a paper cup. High class dog!

 
     We didn't cool off too much, but had fun and enjoyed the afternoon!
