The Indiana Fiasco
Let me first state that I don't really care to even know about someone else's "sexual orientation". Sex of any kind should be a private matter, not constantly paraded in public as it is these days. I am not their judge, God is, and they have to answer to Him, not me. My responsibility as a Christian is to make sure people know that the Bible says it is a sin, which it does plainly. After that it is between them and God. What does annoy me is when the flaunt it, try to cram it down my throat as being perfectly all right, or try or restrict my freedom of speech and religion in order to silence me (or other Christians).
As to the Indiana case and similar ones:
- There are very, very few Christian owned and controlled businesses in the United States.
- Very few of those few Christian businesses are actually operated according to Christian principles. Most operate like any other profit-oriented business, and would not hesitate to provide Gay wedding services.
- Why then, do Gays who want to get "married" run to a Christian wedding photographer, caterer, or cake maker they know will object when they want to get "married"?
It isn't like they don't have a choice. They could hire a secular provider of wedding services, a Hindu, a Buddhist, an Atheist, or even a CHINO (Christian in name only) who doesn't believe the Bible and doesn't care. Even some Moslems would do it. So why do they head for the Bible-believing Christian business?
Of course the real reason is that they hate Christians for saying that homosexual behavior is a choice and a sin and want to punish and silence them. If they really believed that homosexuality was fine, they wouldn't care what Christians said. Obviously they know better but don't want to be reminded of it! To be fair, this isn't true of all - some have spoken up publicly on the issue and been crucified by other Gays for doing so. But this is the "PC age". Freedom of speech has been sacrificed on the altar of conformity and political correctness. Notice also here that since it is "politically incorrect" to criticize Moslems, they get a free pass, even though they hold an even stricter (and more violent) position on the issue than Christians. My point so far is that this is actually an organized war against Christians, which Christians rightly are resisting by trying to legally uphold freedom of religious practice and speech.
So then my position is that "discrimination" isn't even an issue here. Homosexuality isn't genetic, as also proven by science, but a lifestyle choice based on emotions or feelings. If you question this, then pedophilia is also "built-in", and pedophiles should be hired as teachers - otherwise they are discriminated against!
Homosexuality has almost always come out publicly in the last stages of a decadent society, which has become so fat and happy they figure they don't need gods or a god and can be their own god - see Greece and Rome.
Homosexuality is, of course, no worse than any other sins - greed, adultery, divorce, contempt for the poor, living together without benefit of marriage, etc., which critics of the Christian position on homosexuality quite rightly point out. Contrary to present hysterical Christian belief, it doesn't CAUSE the downfall of society - it is just another symptom of decay. Even the Bible says this: "Eze 16:49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy". Excessive wealth, lack of concern for the poor, idleness, and pride bring societies down. They feel they don't need God or ancient rules and regulations anymore. As the economic saying goes "It's different this time". But it never is. All of this unfortunately also afflicts the church today. America is already doomed, barring a revival of true repentance and turning back to God and the Bible. without that, changing laws and presidents will do nothing. This is a big mistake Christians have been making for years now.
Christians need to get back to the work God gave them to do - preaching the Gospel and discipling the converts so that they know and believe what the Bible says, and are able to defend it. They need to stop focusing on quantity and start building quality believers. Thousands of nominal believers are a hindrance, not an asset. Those who are in it for what God can do for them (prosperity "gospel") are a liability. To paraphrase Kennedy: "Ask not what God can do for you, but ask what you can do for God". We have to begin all over in America and build from the grassroots up, not from the top down. Only then will things change. It will be a long, difficult, and costly task, but with God's help it can be done!
